This is the only Higher Secondary School in Muzhappilangad Grama Panchayath. The Muzhappilanghad High School was established by Muzhappilangad Educational Society in 1982. In 1997 the School was handed over to the Government of Kerala. The name of the School was changed to Govt. High School, Muzhappilangad.
In July 2000 the School became Govt. Higher Secondary School, Muzhappilangad, as 3 batches of Higher Secondary classes started; Science, Commerce and Humanities.
